Have you heard of Camino di Santiago de Compostela!? That’s right! – We do not want a hype and a party-like competitions among pilgrims.
Of course we laugh as well on our Cammino Toscano and nobody expects you to become a culinary ascetic as you walk through the Toscana region. However, the Cammino Toscano leads you into silence.
Far from daily hectic and holiday planing, you find time, to explore thoughts and ideas that are important to you. You can exchange these with a neutral sparingpartner.
Together you may search for solutions and their implementation.
The Cammino Toscano contributes to createing a distance, to build up power, to develop courage and safety, which ultimately leads to a new sense of orientation. The Cammino Toscano takes place upon individual agreemen. Usually we walk in May and June, or in September and October.
The Way Inwards In An Open Landscape
We move within a landscape that extends like a metaphor for life along lonely paths, over hills and valleys, offering again and again new views of a far-reaching horizon. We usually take trails and small path as we cross northern Tuscany from Florence to Siena, or even further.
Our journey takes us south: From Florence to Impruneta and over Strada in Chianti to Chiocchio, then Passo dei Peccorai to Greve and Panzano, passing by Pietrafitta on the way to Castellina and Fonterutoli to Quercegrossa until we reach Siena.
Stress is the last thing we aim for. The way inwards takes time, and this is what we take! We have the time for inspiration to unfold.
We need time to free us from distractions. We take our time, to focus on questions, and to share some of them with each other. We also develop scenarios for answers and solutions, if we wish to.
A prerequisite of a fulfilling Cammino is a sense for the right questions. Maybe you already know what you would like to reflect upon on the Cammino Toscano.
Or you decide to go on the Cammino, trusting that calm and silence will bring about your relevant issues. Maybe you already know your answers and your concern is more about their actual implementation.
Many things may come up: What am I tired off, what would i like to change, and how do I go about it? What obstacles do I make out? Is it worth it? Will this make me happier in the long run? What is my definition of happiness anyway? What adds meaning to my life? Where do I find meaning right now? What is my relationship to success? Who else will be affected by my questions and their answers? What could they provoke among those who are related to them? How do I confront them? In which way am I ready to make concession and let go, and what does it mean to me?
Roles and Rules
Before any Cammino, there is a personal meeting with your guide Heinz Schenkel. The aim is to clarify if a Cammino Toscano is the right format to bring about the desired benefit.
During the Cammino, Heinz Schenkel will be your sparring partner and will be available for talks and reflection. Apart from being your guide, his role will be the one of asking further questions and to provide inspiration.
He only gives feedback or advice if you specifically ask for it. However, it is always you who decides over all aspects of your personal development. This our basic rule which will be respected, also in case that more than one participant decides to join the way.
Choosing not to talk for some time is also a normal procedure along Cammino Toscano.
Only basic agreements need to be made among everybody. These include the general destination and travel route, the daily schedule, taking breaks at calm places and the willingness to participate in individual exercises.
Group dynamics are only of concern so that no participant shall be disturbed by others during the journey. And whatever happens during the Cammino, it stays under the discretion of each one of us.
The Cammino Toscano is not a competitive sports event. You will need a basic level of fitness including the ability to walk approximately four hours a day for a week. Such condition enables us to undertake inner reflection without postponing.
